Themed Christmas Tree!

I have always loved Themed Christmas trees. There is something about the blank canvas of a Christmas Tree. In the past we have done several themed trees. We have done: Disney, OU, Gingerbread Men, The Polar Express, Patriotic, Fairytale Princess, The Grinch, and John Deere. This year, as I was thinking on what to do.. I was inspired by my latest obsession! I was sitting in my home with my cousin Josh when it hit me. I looked over at him and said, You wanna go to wal-mart? Then I explained to him what I was envisioning...lol. I have recently got him hooked on all things Twilight as well. He was game for a trip to Wal-Mart.

We bought all kinds of fun stuff. A chess game. Ribbons. Forks. Feathers. Flowers. Apple Ornaments. Red Glitter. Dazzling Silver Sticks. Yard and half black material. Small Round Mini Mirrors.

After making our purchases we came home got out the glue sticks, tacky glue, and started creating the ornaments that would soon adorn my tree. Then my friend Lisa returned home... She quickly joined the excitement. She started gluing the dazzling mirrors to the black tree skirt. After burning my finger and completing the ornaments. Lisa and Josh decorated the tree..

Our Twilight Inspired Christmas Tree:The plastic forks were a must. To fancy them up a bit my Mom and my niece tied red or black and white checked ribbons on them. This was to represent Forks, Wa. The setting for the book.
We added the apple ornaments all over the tree to represent the first cover of the Twilight Series. Which is a symbol for Bella, the forbidden fruit. The crushed flower is for the cover of New Moon. The flower represents a delicate Bella and how she feels in Edwards absence. The red ribbons are from the cover of Eclipse. The ribbon symbolizes how Bella feels, torn between life and death. Vampires and Werewolves. The Chessboard represents the forth and final book, Breaking Dawn. The red pawn represents weak human Bella and the White Queen symbolizes the stronger Bella.
There a glitter silver sticks that jaunt out from the tree. They are to represent Edward dazzling in the sunlight. You can't see them in the picture but they are there and they add so much character to the tree. The tree skirt is also adorned with mirrors that dazzle a reflection of white twinkling lights. There are also feathers stuck within the branches of the tree. At first I bought feathers because I thought that was what was on the New Moon Cover but I was wrong.. I think the feathers are a cute added touch.. and well feathers are a part of the series.. We won't discuss that here...(um, book four-torn pillows)I just have a point and shoot camera so it does not do the tree justice but we are all quite pleased with our Twilight Christmas tree. I purposely did not show the top of the tree because I don't have a clue what to top it with. I am thinking a stuffed lion and lamb. The Cullen Crest. Or something like that.. any ideas.

Do you guys do themed trees?

Okay, I know it seems a bit obsessive but it was so much fun. Please don't stop following me..lol. I will snap out of it soon...lol.

By the way, I did lose a follower today : (

Not Me! Monday!

I did not spend all week teaching my children about the First Thanksgiving, about Pilgrims and Indians. I was not impressed when they could tell me everything about the event including the ships, the date, Plymouth rock etc (remember they are 4 & 5) I did not totally crack up when I was showing them off to our principal.. and they called the pilgrims-penguins by mistake. I hid my laughter very well when my very excited students yelled, Look teacher, Mexicans - when Native Americans came to our school in full dress for a pow wow.

I did not accidentally schedule Camo Day on the last day before a break. Why would I get my kids even more excited. I would never do that to myself...

In order to get my kids to walk quietly down the hall I did not say their is a hunter looking for turkeys. We must be very very quite (we did have turkey hats on) My kids were so very quite. I was very impressed. We tip toed across the street. This hunter stuff is really working out well. I did not really get into it, jumping back saying I just seen him. At one point, I did not turn around to see my kids laying on the sidewalk in order for the hunter not to see them..

Even though, my little kids are way to stinkin' cute. I was not so very happy to hug them and send them on their way on Friday. I did not fall back into my chair thanking God for a much needed Thanksgiving Break!

I have not seen Twilight 3 times this weekend. I did not buy the book so that I could read it again, now that I have visuals.

I am not totally crushing on Rob Pattinson.

I did not have to return yet another phone to US Cellular this week. I am not crossing my fingers hoping 3x is the charm. Acck.

The atm machine did not keep my Debit Card because I put in the wrong pin 3x. I am not freaking out because I have no clue where my card is. I do not have to wake up early on my vacation to call the bank first thing in the morning. I am not a little bit embarrassed. Things like this never ever happen to me.

My boyfriend : ) Blake Shelton did not make it into the 100 Sexiest People Magazine.. (He really did make it even though, the picture is barely bigger than a postage stamp. He is so in there...)

All over the map Tuesday!

Okay, friends forgive me but this post is going to be all over the place!
First off: Did you guys watch One Tree Hill tonight?
SERIOUSLY? What was up with the 1920's stuff. I wasn't really into it..

Saturday, I was crunching on some ice from my sugar free vanilla iced coffee when I bit the inside of my mouth on the left side and since then I have bit the same exact spot 12 times. Let me tell you it is tender.. but why does this always happen? Why do you continually bite the same spot over and over...ugh. It never fails. Does this happen to you guys too?

I had a little boy fill his boots, pants, and pockets full of stuff from my desk at school today. I don't know how he thought he was going to get out of my room with all that stuff. He looked more like Santa than a preschooler. A bulging belly from all the stuff he was trying to hide away..
At first, I really wanted to laugh because of the way he had his whole waist band perfectly lined with stuff.... but then I got aggravated. What in the world am I going to do? Ugh.

Overheard in my classroom:

A little boy in my class was running toward a little girl and his hands were covered in dirt.
She was wagging one finger in the air at him and pointing at herself with the other when she said, "Don't You Dare, This is Gymboree"

lol- It was way to funny. My aid and I totally cracked up. 4 years old and the girl new her labels.

This week a lot of stuff is coming out that I am looking forward too..
Of course Twilight The Movie : ) comes out of Friday!!

Today is the release of Blake Shelton's newest album!
I cannot wait to get it. I am seriously debating on going to Wal-Mart right now..
It is 12:35 am
_______________________________________________

I was at Wal-Mart the other day and I picked up this book. I have only read the first few pages but I have a feeling... I better get my Kleenexes ready. I mostly wanted to read it because I want to see the movie.. and I usually always try to read the books before I see the movie.. If they are being released to the big screen..
______________________________________

I think the movie looks super cute. I love Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson, and Eric Dane. Oh yeah, and super cute golden retrievers.

Speaking of Eric Dane.

Doesn't he resemble my boyfriend, (you know Blake Shelton) a little bit?

I might not have picked the best pictures but once I seen this picture of Blake in a cowboy hat I couldn't keep looking..lol.

But don't you think they have some similarities? Or is it just me?

I told you this post was all over the place..
So you can't say you were not warned..lol.

Happy Tuesday Folks : )

Not Me Monday!

It's that time again! To read more about what others are not doing.. click on over to McMama's to join in the Not Me Fun!

I did not wake up Saturday Morning to find that the screen on my new phone was completely black. I could not read my text messages or see to call out. I did not get up and get dressed immediately and head on over to US Cellular to take the phone back.

The clerk at the store did not say, "I am sorry but your 30 day warranty will not be honored due to physical damage to the phone." I did not start bawling right in the middle of the store. People were not turning to look at me. They did not finally give in and give me a new phone. ( Do not buy a Samsung Delve, It is completely touch screen. I loved it but I didn't do anything to it at all and I was accused of damaging it. That is why I cried, because I tend to cry when I get mad ugh.)

I am not sucking down my 4th iced coffee of the week while posting this blog entry at 12:45 am.

I did not just purchase 8 Twilight Tickets for the Midnight showing : ) I am not going to a high school ballgame that evening, then leaving straight from the ballgame to the movies, which is an hour away in Muskogee, and I most certainly do not have to get up the next morning at 6:30 to go to work. I am a mature adult who makes wise decisions. I would never go to a midnight movie an hour away from my home. I am also not counting down the days until the said movie is going to be released..

I did not totally sleep in this morning and skip church. I do not feel totally guilty about it now...

I was not devastated when I heard that Steve Nash was suspended for fighting. I did not call a friend and ask him to check and see how long he would be suspended and I did not pray that he would be playing when I see the Suns play Oklahoma Thunder.. That would be such a silly prayer.. (He was suspended for only one game : ) )

I did not go shopping this weekend only planning to use a gift card and a coupon but ended up using both plus 26 extra dollars on one item. Ugh. Oh, and It was most certainly not for me..

I am not dreading this week in the classroom. A school week, right before a holiday is a piece of cake. There is no excitement in the air and all the children act like perfect little angels..

This week has not been crazy busy, my DVR is not 87% full. I did not have an extra curricular activity 4 nights this week. This weekend did not fly by and I am not so stinkin' tired..lol.

Every November I send home family homework. It is a time for my pre-k kids to engage in a project with their families. In doing the project the family gets to spend quality time together and we get a cute display for our room. It's a win win situation...

I send home a blank turkey pattern and a note explaining to the parents that they need to disquise the turkey's so that they will not get eaten for Thanksgiving dinner. It is such a fun project. The kids and the parents really get into it...

Aren't these so stinkin' cute. I love how creative some of my parents are...

The Fabulous 50's

The writing assignment I chose this week is: If I could live in any era of history, what would it be -- list 10 reasons why! To read more writing assignment post.. Click on over here!

While I love the day and age I live in now.. I think that I would love to live in the 1950's! I think it would be fun to go back to simpler times.. Some of the reasons I think I would love the 50's are:

1. The Dancing

2. Simple, yet sophisticated fashio
n

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” -Hepburn

3. The Mickey Mouse Club.

Oh, How I would have loved to be a member of the original Mickey Mouse Club. Even as an adult, I love all things Mickey. M-I-C-K-E-Y MOUSE! Sing it with me...

4. Drive In movies...

We had a drive in movie in our town for the longest time. I used to love to go to them.. I love the whole atmosphere.. But I love older movies that depict them. Even though it was fun in the 90's I think it would have been way more fun in the 50's

5. The Television shows..

I Love Lucy
Leave It To Beaver
The Adventures of Ozzy and Harriet
Father Knows Best

I love all of these fabulous television shows. I could watch them over and over again...

6. Diners

I love everything about Diners. I love the menu. Who don't love Burgers and Shakes. I love the Juke Boxes. The checkered floors. I love it all...

7. Stay At Home Housewife's..

Okay- Please do not judge. I am all for women's rights. I just love how the 50's housewife's were portrayed. I love how they tended to their little families and got all pretty before their men got home. I really think a good dose of this would actually do some good... but in order for me to be a proper stay at home housewife... I am going to have to get married first..and then probably get over my fear of the kitchen..lol.

8. The Music

I love the music of the 1950's.

Nat King Cole- Unforgettable
Dean Martin - That's Amore
Patti Page - The Doggy In The Window
Frank Sinatra - I've Got The World On A String
Bill Haley and The Comments - Shake Rattle and Roll
The Crew Cuts- Sh Boom
Elvis Presley - Love Me Tender
Everly Brothers - All I have to do is dream

I could go on and on...

9. Simpler Times..

10. Elvis

I love me some Elvis. I think I would have been one of those screaming crying girls that crack me up every time I see movies about his life. As a kid I loved Elvis movies. I thought he was so cute.

Oh, what a fun era to be from.. These 10 things are just the beginning. I didn't even mention the baby boom, life in suburbia, white picket fences, the cool toys, safe neighborhoods, new inventions, and the pursuit of the American Dream..

He made the Son rise for me!

I work at a school that is 15 miles from my home. The school in which I teach is right on Eufaula lake. On most mornings I am speeding down the highway talking to GOD. I am sure that I am a funny sight to people passing by.. just talking away! But I don't care, the morning is my time to just really get lost in prayer. One particular morning I was totally having a pity party. Why me God? Why am I having to wait? What can I do different? God, why does it feel like you are so far away from my situation? Yeah, see. I told you. PITY. PARTY. No one was invited but myself. That was the horrible part. I was basically saying, GOD where are you? Then I glanced to the right of the highway and I saw the beautiful sun rising up above the lake. I saw the rays skipping across the lake as if they were reaching out to me.. the beauty of it brought tears to my eyes. It was as if GOD was saying to me. I am here. Look at this beautiful morning I have made for you. I am in control. Your needs will be met. It quickly brought a song to memory. It was a song by The Crabb Family. He Makes The Sun Rise - I have looked everywhere for the lyrics but I can't find them. But the song was basically a play on words.. God makes the Sun rise for us every morning.. but he also made The SON rise for us. I am totally not doing the song justice. I will keep looking.. I so want to share them with you... But now every morning I make sure that I look out over the lake.. and every morning as I see the sun light dancing on the water.. I smile because I know GOD is with me.

Thank You/ What Cha' Reading?

Thank you to all the men and women who have served and to all of those serving now.. I am forever grateful. You service to our Country is an amazing sacrifice that does not go unnoticed by me. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Be warned! Like me, this post is all over the place..lol.

In the summer of 1996 someone bought me, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I remember being so into the book. I remember laughing, crying, and hurting with the characters. After this book I was hooked. Soon after I purchased Message In A Bottle (so much better than the movie) and I think I fell in love with his writing style even more.. Since then I have read everyone of his books. I even stalk his website to read about his up and coming books..needless to say, I was super excited when his newest book The Lucky One came out.. One of my buddies actually bought it for my birthday! Thank You Emily.. Anyway I couldn't jump right into because I was spending my nights with Edward and Bella..but I started reading this book right after finishing The Twilight Series and just let me tell you... I was so disappointed! I can honestly say, I just didn't like it. I kept waiting for it to get better but it never did! Have you ever read a book hoping it would get better? If so, which one?

Just in case your wondering.. My all time favorite Nicholas Sparks book is A Bend In The Road with A Walk To Remember closely following.. I remember being in my dorm room bawling my eyes out during the last 5 chapters of A Walk To Remember. I was miserable..but I loved it! lol. I love a good book that invokes emotion.

Right now, I am trying to read The Host by Stephanie Myers. I know I know.. It's about Aliens (or something of that nature) and I don't like Aliens (well I love alf and ET but, who don't). Eww, aliens was my first thought.. but I thought I would give it a try because Ew, Vampires is what I thought about Twilight and well you all know how obsessed I became with those books.. I will let you know how it turns out..
Do you guys have any book recommendations for me?

Overheard in my classroom
Child: Teacher, remember my cat?
Me: Yes, I remember you telling me about it.
Child: Well it used to be a girl, but it grew into a boy.
Me: Oh really?
Child: Yeah, you wanna see her? I mean him.
Me: Maybe you can bring a picture for us all to see.
Child: We don't need a picture she's in my backpack.
Me: (to myself) Great.

I can't believe some of you don't know who Blake Shelton is..

Not Me Monday!

I did not have a Extra Large Sugar Free Vanilla Iced Coffee from McDonalds everyday this week. Surely, I did not! I would not totally recommend this drink to everyone I know..

I do not refer to Blake Shelton as my boyfriend. I would never do that to my true boyfriend, Rob Lowe. How inconsiderate would that be of me? And not to mention entirely immature.

I am not so excited about his (you know my boyfriend, Blake) new album. Starting Fires. Due in stores November 18th. And I am not bothered that he pretends to love Miranda Lambert and I am so not excited about their upcoming tour this year..

I guess I shouldn't watch CMT when filling out My Not Me Monday Post because for some reason, I have a sudden urge to talk about my other boyfriend, Josh Turner..but I will save that for another post..lol.

I was not so very excited that basketball season started this week! I am not totally nervous about the upcoming game this week.

I do not have to be so very strict on my diet until Thanksgiving. I cannot even look at a carb. Much less lick any...and I am not even sad about it..ugh.

I did not totally have a bad blogging week. I did not get totally behind reading all my favorite blogs.. this week and I am not totally sad about it...
